Burst writer signed by Steve Lilywhite

Max’s band, Superchic[k], in studio with Steve Lilywhite
The Burst Collective proudly announces that our friend, uber-talented writer/producer Max Hsu is Steve Lilywhite’s FIRST signing in his new stint as head of A&R at Columbia Records!
Steve Lilywhite’s credits include U2, Peter Gabriel, Dave Matthews, Rolling Stones, Counting Crows, Simple Minds, XTC and many other musical lengends.
Max has been a friend of The Burst Collective since before it was born, recording demos with Daniel in the basement of his church when the two were just starting out. Since that time, Max has done some amazing work for Burst Music, including one of our most frequently licensed tracks, “Bonded”.
We sincerely wish Max and his band Superchic[k] the very best at Columbia!

Producers of Fox’s “American Idol” have chosen Burst music to tie their top-rated, fifth season together.
Material from the Burst Music catalog adorns many of the interlude segments and street interviews.
Most recently, American Idol “Auditions 6″ spun slices of Burst songs Teen Novella, QWERTY and Twister throughout the show and during the entire minute-long closing. Back Bacon, also from Burst’s Velocity Music Library, greased the twins segment the week before.
The Burst Collective’s Daniel Holter was invited to participate as a panelist at the 2005 Road Rally, hosted each year in Los Angeles, CA by Taxi.
Holter was introduced during the first panel discussion of the Rally, the “successful members” panel, due to Taxi’s involvement in landing Burst’s song “I Wanna Be” with Emma Roberts at Columbia Records.
Pictured below are Holter, Marshall Altman (of Columbia Records), and Michael Laskow (president of Taxi) in the presidential suite of the Rennaisance Hotel in Hollywood.

Holter was also invited to sit on Friday afternoon’s panel discussion of Production Techniques for the Home Studio, and was rewarded with over 60 demo CDs from aspiring writers after he made the dreadful, first-time-panelist error of announcing from the stage that he would be looking for new material next year!.
It’s official! Our song “I Wanna Be” has been selected by Columbia Records to be the first single shipped to radio off Emma Roberts’ debut CD.

Emma Roberts “Unfabulous and more”
The full album is set to be released September 27, 2005. Not only is “I Wanna Be” featured as the first single, the video appears on the dual disc version of the retail release and it’s being used this summer and fall to promote Emma’s hit show on Nickelodeon, “Unfabulous”.
Press release here, Billoard article here.
Many thanks to Marshall Altman (A&R at Columbia Records) and Michael Laskow (president of Taxi.com) for making this happen!
“I Wanna Be” was written by Burst composers Daniel Holter and Mike Standal. If you’re interested, our demo version can be heard at broadjam.
